About Orthopedics

Orthopedic surgeons explore nonsurgical options first, such as pain medication or rehabilitation. They also have the expertise to perform surgery to repair an injury or correct a condition, if necessary.

In addition to treatment for broken bones and replacement of painful joints, orthopedic surgeons also treat patients for these problems:

  • Sports injuries
  • Back pain, ruptured disks and spinal stenosis
  • Bone tumors
  • Carpal tunnel, hand arthritis and hand injuries
  • Club foot, bow legs and hip dysplasia
  • Achilles tendon injuries, bunions and foot and ankle injuries
  • Osteoporosis
  • Arthritis

Orthopedics
Connor Finklea, DMSc, PA-C, earned his Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2020, where his graduate thesis focused on carpal tunnel syndrome. He later pursued additional advanced training through an Ultrasound MSK mini-fellowship in 2021 and subsequently completed his Doctor of Medical Science degree in 2022. Since joining William Bee Ririe Hospital in September 2020, Connor has worked extensively in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine alongside orthopedic surgeon Dr. Allred while also providing urgent care services, pain management, CDL/DOT physicals, lifestyle medicine counseling, and orthopedic consultations within the hospital and emergency department. Connor serves as a surgical first assist in all orthopedic surgical procedures and provides comprehensive patient care before, during, and after surgery to ensure continuity and familiarity throughout the treatment process. His clinical interests include musculoskeletal medicine, ultrasound-guided joint and soft tissue injections, sports medicine evaluation and treatment, fracture and dislocation management, and non-operative orthopedic care. He is passionate about helping patients improve their health through evidence-based lifestyle modifications involving nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management. Outside of the hospital, Connor likes to spend time with his family outdoors riding ATVs or side-by-sides, exercising in the gym and just enjoying life with his wife and three kids. Dedicated to the Ely community, Connor values building long-term relationships with his patients and plans to continue serving the region for years to come.
