Our Family, Taking Care of Yours

The William Bee Ririe Hospital, located at 1500 Avenue H in Ely, Nevada, is a Critical Access Hospital which serves the community of White Pine County, as well as many travelers on Highways 93, 6, and 50.

Our hospital has an Emergency Room, which is open 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week, and a Clinic, which is open Monday through Friday.

We are accredited by The Joint Commission, which indicates our compliance with CMS's national standards for healthcare quality and safety. We have worked hard to earn The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval, which means we have fully met Joint Commission standards. They focus on state-of-the-art performance improvement strategies, which ensures the health care you receive from our accredited hospital continuously improves the safety and quality of care. William Bee Ririe Hospital is also the only COLA Accredited Hospital Laboratory in Rural Nevada.

First hospital building is ready for use in Ely.

The Steptoe Valley Unit of the hospital is built. It was financed by Nevada Consolidated Copper and later taken over by Kennecott until it was given to the county.

The first Board of Trustees was appointed. Vail Pittman (was the owner and editor of The Ely Daily Times, later became Governor of Nevada) - Chairman, Harold Bishop - VP Chairman, Dorothy Collins (mother of Chief Justice John Collins), Gerald Culbert, and Reed J. Anderson, M.D.

A bond was approved and the people voted to build the new hospital. County voters passed a $500,000 bond issue.

The county official assured a $417,000 federal grant and $50,000 was appropriated by the state. The total cost for the new facility was set at $1,165,000.

Groundbreaking ceremonies were held at the new hospital site. Ella Mae Peterson, hospital administrator, and William Bee Ririe, veteran White Pine doctor for whom the hospital was later named, were holding shovels at the event.

The new hospital dedication took place. The 44 beds and the majority new equipment the hospital boasted were made possible through Fleischmann Funds.

Nevada State Legislature established NRS 450.550 through 450.800 providing for the creation of County Hospital Districts. The Board of County Commissioners created the White Pine County Hospital District Board of Trustees pursuant to NRS 450.620.

A physician clinic was opened with 2 family practice physicians in the Reed J. Anderson building.

Construction began on a clinic building adjacent to the hospital.

Clinic construction was completed and there is now space for 10 full-time physicians.

Eastern Nevada Medical Group merged with William Bee Ririe, expanding services, including surgery, internal medicine, and visiting specialist services.

William Bee Ririe converted to a Rural Health Clinic, as well as a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital.

The largest upgrade increased space for the hospital facility, laboratory, and other areas; improved patient access to areas between the clinic and hospital for appointments and various outpatient services, incl. Emergency Services.

The Board of Trustees approved a three-phase Operating Room and Endoscopy Suite expansion.

The new operating rooms were dedicated to Norman G. Christensen, M.D., in honor of his 40+ years of service to William Bee Ririe Hospital. The final phase of this project was completed in 2012.

Born and raised in Nevada Bodie has spent time serving in the U.S. Air Force; with over 10 years of experience in Law Enforcement and another 10 years in the Fire Service. Bodie is a Nationally Registered Paramedic and is currently employed full-time with the City of Ely Fire Department. In his spare time, Bodie enjoys time with his wife and family participating in outdoor activities.

Chief Nursing Officer
Pam has been a nurse for 45 years with expertise in emergency nursing and leadership. She moved from the East Coast to Las Vegas in 2014, completed her doctorate in nursing in 2022, and moved to Ely as the Chief Nursing Officer in 2023. Pam is married with 4 children and 7 grandkids. She has embraced life in Ely volunteering with the Lions Club, rescuing 2 cats, and raising 9 chickens.

Chief Operations Officer
Beth has over 22 years of experience in the health care industry, with experience in behavioral health, Nuclear Medicine, Radiology, Medical Assisting and healthcare leadership. Beth moved in 2014 from Pennsylvania to Las Vegas and joined the WBRH family in early 2022. Beth is married with one child. Beth enjoys the Ely outdoors and can often be found gardening, hiking, kayaking, off roading or spending time with family.

William Bee Ririe Hospital is looking for a Radiology Tech to be employed to practice in Ely, Nevada

Responsibilities:

·        Using proper radiation protection and precautions, prepares and operates radiographic, fluoroscopic, and portable equipment.

·        Positions patients to obtain appropriate radiographic exposures

·        Operates film processing equipment

·        Maintains computerized records, files, and/or reports

·        Participates in quality control and quality assurance studies

·        Assists the supervising radiologist with administrative functions

Required Skills/Abilities:

·        Graduate from an accredited school of radiology, X-Ray-CT experience preferred

·        ARRT certified.

Respiratory Therapist - Full Time

A Respiratory Therapist works in a hospital environment to provide physicians with assistance related to respiratory therapy. As a team member, you will be performing diagnostic testing, collecting and analyzing blood gas specimens, documenting in medical records, performing EKG\'s and filing reports, formulating teaching plans for patients, Administering medical gasses, breathing therapy modalities, and approved medication, maintaining equipment, providing mechanical ventilation, performing pulmonary tests, assist with airway management in Labor and Delivery, stress tests and set up holter/event monitors.

Requirements: Current CRT or RRT license (Nevada), current BLS and ACLS with PALS and NRP obtained within six months of hire, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to care for patients, and current Nevada Blood Technologist or General Supervisor License (or must apply for gas technologist license within 30 days of hire).

One year as a RT in a hospital setting preferred, ER and L&D experience preferred. This position will include weekends and call.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides for patient's personal hygiene and daily living. This may include providing and clearing bedpans and urinals, providing baths, backrubs, shampoos and shaves, and assisting patients with showers. Assists with meals and feeds patients. Ambulates, turns and positions patients. Provides fresh water and nourishment between meals.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and co-workers

Education and Experience:
