The William Bee Ririe Rural Health Clinic staff members have received complaints from the community regarding the lack of availability of days and times to schedule an appointment. Patients often have to wait longer than they would prefer, to see a provider.
In an effort to improve our scheduling, we conducted a study from July 7 through August 18, 2021 and found there were 164 no-shows for appointments. The patients scheduled an appointment, did not cancel their appointment, and did not arrive. These were times when other patients could have been seen.
To improve the availability of appointments, the William Bee Ririe Rural Health Clinic has implemented a $20 No-Show Fee when patients do not cancel at least 24 business hours in advance of their scheduled appointment. Hopefully this will encourage patients to arrive as planned, or cancel their appointment in a timely manner.
