January 30, 2013 - Thanks to a very generous donation made by Dr. Christensen, William Bee Ririe Hospital and the University of Utah have partnered to bring a program to WBRH that will allow faster and more efficient care for patients potentially suffering from strokes. This Telestroke Program has now launched as of January 21, 2013. Potential stroke patients that come in to William Bee Ririe's ER, if they meet the criteria, will be able to be connected with a U of U neurologist through live video feed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's an amazing program with the ability to provide patients with potentially critical stroke medication right here at the hospital, saving vital brain function. It may also rule out some transfers, keeping some of our patients home where possible
Through this program we hope to open the door to other telemedicine programs in the future. We look forward to continuing to meet additional community needs as we see them and can create effective systems and processes here in our facility to better serve those needs.
